From the Principal’s Office
As we get into the swing of fall, we are really starting to enjoy some cooler temperatures! Classes have begun to notice changes in the leaves and weather as we move into the month of October. We are also starting to enjoy the fall activities involved with falling leaves, pumpkins, apples, harvest season, and Halloween!
This past month we said goodbye to Ms. Saundra, but she will stay on as a sub so you will still see her around the school from time to time! Even though we are sad to see Ms. Saundra go, we are very excited for her new opportunity! Ms. Elizabeth will continue to teach in the Infant room and you will see other familiar faces, such as Ms. Jamie, Ms. Chassidy, and Ms. Shannon. We have welcomed a new face to the Infant room, Ms. Jeda, who will join us in the afternoons. She loves working with children and we know she will do a fantastic job with the babies!
Our next fundraiser will be selling Yankee Candle items that will make perfect gifts for the holidays! It will begin October 9th and all orders will need to be turned in no later than October 23rd. All items will be delivered to the school the week of November 13th.
As a reminder, Vikki will be attending the annual Principal’s Conference in Atlantic City from October 23-27th. Tracy will be available to answer any questions while Vikki is gone.

Our first set of Parent Reports will be going home in the coming months, which will show you your child’s abilities at this point of the school year. As many students recently moved into a new classroom, we would expect to see the children in the “Introduced” and “Developing” levels of the skills. Throughout the year, we will expect to see this skills improve into the “Mastery” level.
For Parents
Fall is a great time to go through your child’s cubby and ensure they have the items needed to comfortable enjoy the coming months. Many students have grown considerably since last fall, so please be sure that all clothing fits your growing child. Students should have a complete changes of clothes in their cubby that includes:
Pants
A long-sleeved shirt or light sweater
Socks
Underwear
Shoes
We are looking forward to lots of outdoor time as the weather cools off, and closed toed shoes are necessary for playing on the playground and participating in outdoor lessons. Please ensure that your child has appropriate footwear.
We still have several openings in some of our classes and would love your help in filling them! You can help by referring friends and family who may be looking for a wonderful preschool experience, such as Chesterbrook Academy. If you do refer a family, your family could earn a free week of tuition for every family that enrolls, which will be applied after three months of enrollment.
Reminders
If you plan to bring in a treat for your child’s Halloween party, please make sure to remember that all food must be store bought and free of any nuts. We do have several nut allergies, so if one of these is not followed, we will not be able to serve the food at the party.
As cold and flu season begins, please be sure you are reminding your child to wash their hands as they enter the classroom each morning. This allows us to cut down on the amount of germs in the classrooms, keeping our children and teachers healthy!
If your school age child will not be riding the bus in the afternoon, please be sure to let us know by 1:30 PM that day, so as not to delay the bus routes. Also, please let us know if your school age child will be joining us for their days off of school coming up this month!
We would like to thank families that have been bringing in box tops and encourage your additional support! Having greater amounts of box tops allows us to purchase more supplies for our classrooms. Simply bring the box tops in and drop them off with Mrs. Mizell in the Kindergarten room or at the front desk!
