If you plan to use your vacation credit during the holidays, please be sure to let Vikki or Tracy know so we may apply it to the correct week. If you are not sure if you have used your vacation credit for the year yet, please stop by the front desk.
For Parents
The beginning of November has brought some very cold, windy days. We try to take classes outside for some fresh air as often as we can once the cold temperatures set in. However, if it is too cold, we stay inside and use our available spaces for some indoor gross motor activities. Please make sure your child comes to school dressed for the weather, including a coat, hat, and gloves so we can continue going outside, even in the cooler temperatures.
Reminders
Chesterbrook Academy will be closed on November 10th in observance of Veteran’s Day, as well as providing teachers with a full day of training. At this training, teachers gain knowledge and many new ideas to implement in the classroom to better your child’s learning experiences.
We will also be closed on Thursday, November 23rd, as well as Friday, November 24th for Thanksgiving!
As cold and flu season is in full effect, please be sure you are reminding your child to wash their hands as they enter the classroom each morning. This allows us to cut down on the amount of germs in the classrooms, keeping our children and teachers healthy!
If your school age child will not be riding the bus in the afternoon, please be sure to let us know by 1:30 PM that day, so as not to delay the bus routes. Also, please let us know if your school age child will be joining us for their days off of school coming up this month!
Families can earn a free week of tuition by referring another family for enrollment in our school! This tuition credit will be applied after the family has been enrolled for three months.

School Highlights
Infants: October was a month of new adventures for the infant classroom. We enjoyed discovering the various textures of small pumpkins by rubbing them and rolling them around the table. We also carved our large classroom pumpkin and had a blast exploring the feel of the strands and seeds inside the pumpkin.
Toddlers: This month, we explored leaves, corn, and other fall materials. As we read a story about typical fall activities, we pretended to pick apples from trees and carry them in a bucket. We even decorated our classroom pumpkin with our handprints!
Beginners: Fall is one of our favorite times of the year in this classroom! We completed all kinds of science, sensory, and art activities to celebrate the start of the new season. Our favorite activity involved using a paper mache technique to wrap glue soaked yarn around a balloon to make a pumpkin!
Intermediates: During the month of October, we did lots of activities using apples. We loved learning about how apples grow on trees and are picked in the orchard. We completed an apple taste test and tried three different colors of apples, then voted on our favorites and created a bar graph with the results.
Pre-K: This month we got to take a field trip to Luther Oaks Retirement Community! We dressed up in our Halloween costumes and participated in a parade with the residents. While there, we also got to play some fun Halloween games and even have a few special treats!
