January 2018 Newsletter

Happy New Year!!!  We here at Chesterbrook Academy are so excited for what 2018 has in store.  As we reflect back on the previous year and look at all the learning fun, we look forward with zeal to the amazing learning experiences 2018 will bring us.

Winter is officially here and so is the cold, cold weather!  Teachers will take advantage of the cold and spend January teaching all about the Arctic habitat and Arctic animals.  Classes will spend time reading books such as Polar Bear, Polar Bear What Do You Hear? by Bill Martin Jr and Eric Carle and Five Little Penguins Slipping on Ice by Steve Metzger.  Students will get to participate in science experiments with ice and snow.  As students watch water freeze and ice melt, they will learn about the different states of matter.  Even our littlest friends will get to explore sensory bins of snow, experiencing the cold with their sense of touch.

January is packed full of fun days including “Crazy Hat Day” on the 9th and “Crazy Hair Day” on the 30th.  On January 5th students will be making birdfeeders and on the 10th students will be ”building igloos.”  We will have a special Curriculum Night and dinner on January 15th.  This is a time for you enjoy a spaghetti dinner while learning all about our Links 2 Learning curriculum.  Be sure to check out our January calendar for other fun happenings throughout the month!!
