April News
Welcome to the month of April. This month our teachers are busy finishing up their NAEYC portfolio’s as they push forward in showcasing on paper what happens in their classrooms and within their lesson plans. I can’t say enough what a great group of teachers we have who are setting the pace for the entire company as we move forward with it. It is a lot of extra work and documenting, but each teacher is taking it in stride, learning from it and progressing quicker than we asked.
Currently, we are amid our Buy one, get one free book fair. So far, we have earned $400.00 worth of free books for our library, and we have set aside another $400 worth to donate to Cradles to Crayons. Thank you for your support through the early bird registration process in assisting us reach this amount. It is truly amazing!
I know in the media lately there has been a lot of scary events occurring at schools. We are taking proactive steps by hosting a training here at our school this month for the teachers. We will be involving the local police authorities, so we can have our facility assessed as to how we can up our security measures. As parents we ask that you please do not allow a stranger to follow you in the building, be aware of your surroundings when entering our property, be extra vigilant to those around you when you enter our property and lastly, if you exit a playground gate, close it behind you. If we all team together and form a more cohesive bond, our school will be a safer place.
A special thank you to all of you who pulled together and made our egg hunt a HUGE SUCCESS! I was a bit worried that not all our children would get one egg. You all proved me wrong after I sent my “Cry for help” letter on Tadpoles. I believe no child went home with less than 8 eggs. Thank you so much! It was a great day enjoyed by everyone. At this time if you do not know what to do with all those plastic eggs your child brought home, we will gladly take them back and put them in storage for next year.
The days are getting warmer. With the snow and rain our playgrounds are a bit muddy. Please dress your child in the appropriate attire to enjoy outside time. We ask that the clothes you send your child to school in are not their best! Outside is important to the children and staff and we would hate to see their best outfits get ruined by the dirt.
The parking lot is a dangerous place for our children. We understand, and we know that you might be running late for work, but we ask that you please abide by the speed limit of 5 mph in our parking lot and refrain from cell phone use. Lately we have been seeing some larger pickup trucks coming in and out of the parking lot not only exceeding the 5 mph request, but tripling it. Those big trucks are no match for our short students, please slow down, we would hate to see one of our students or their parents hurt.
Have a great month and watch for more information coming soon about Parent Appreciation Week, Child Appreciation Week, Ladybug Release, Staff Appreciation Week, and of course the PTO Meetings and Events.
Sincerely,
