As a convenience add-on to our standard preschool programs, Chesterbrook Academy at Drexel University offers a variety of optional ancillary activities that your child can participate in throughout the school year. These programs are taught by outside instructors who specialize in the activity at hand, and are a great opportunity to allow your child to explore his/her interests without the hassle of having to drive to other locations after a long day of work. Ancillary activities do not require a commitment, so you can join in or opt out at any time.
The ancillary activities that we will offer for the 2018-2019 school year include:
Music Monkey Jungle Sing Along – Tuesday Mornings at 10:00am (Program Flyer)
OPEN TO INTERMEDIATE & PRE-K STUDENTS
A music program specially designed for preschool! Marci from Music Monkey Jungle will join us each week to host a good old-fashioned, community-style sing along, complete with movement and instruments. Children will explore the music concepts of melody, range, dynamics, and tempo, all while having a rockin’ good time each week!
Kids In Action Music – Wednesday Mornings at 10:00am (Program Flyer)
OPEN TO ALL INFANT, TODDLER, & BEGINNER STUDENTS
Our littlest learners love the chance to sing and move! Music helps to build memory, language development, coordination, timing, and self-expression. Kids In Motion Music focuses on short rhythm and melody patterns in songs that your child can remember, with a goal of helping them to express it on their own.
Abrakadoodle Art – Thursday Mornings at 10:00am (Program Flyer)
OPEN TO INTERMEDIATE & PRE-K STUDENTS
In Abrakadoodle Art, each child’s creativity and imaginative thinking is celebrated. Children will learn about art through literacy by exploring famous art works by classic artists, in addition to art inspired by our favorite books. Projects will be created through experimentation with watercolors, pastels, tempera, and more!
Mini Sports – Friday Mornings at 11:00am (Program Flyer)
OPEN TO BEGINNER, INTERMEDIATE, & PRE-K STUDENTS
Mini Sports is a sports and fitness program made just for children. Emphasis will be put on game fundamentals, safety, drills, and skills. The class will help your child to develop strength, balance, and coordination, while also building self-esteem and confidence. This is a great opportunity to establish which sports spark an interest in your child for his/her future in athletics.
Dancing Darlings – Friday Mornings at 11:00am (Program Flyer)
OPEN TO INTERMEDIATE & PRE-K STUDENTS
The Dancing Darlings program will explore introductory ballet, jazz, hip hop, and yoga. With structure and discipline, the children will gain an appreciation for the art of dance and an introduction to basic movement skills. Our CBA Drexel Dancing Darlings will even participate in an end of year dance recital in late May!
DATES: Our first class sessions will be held during the week of October 1st. Once you sign up, your child will join the class for the next class session that is held. Each ancillary activity will run weekly through the last week of May 2019.
COST: Classes are $17.00 per week, which will be billed with your child’s weekly tuition.
