The purpose of our sick policy is to reduce the spread of illness among our students and to encourage full recuperation of sick children before they return to school. We depend on parents to assist us in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all of our children.
Sick Policy:
Children may be sent home if they have any concerning symptoms. In addition, a child must be free of all of these symptoms for at least 24 hours before he/she can return to school. These symptoms include:
- A Fever of 100 degrees or more
- Vomiting within the previous 24-hour period
- Diarrhea within the previous 24-hour period
- Symptoms of a communicable disease
- Fussy, cranky behavior and generally not himself/ herself
Following an illness, a child may return to school once he/she has either been seen by a doctor or it has been determined that illness is not contagious. (A doctor’s clearance may be requested.) Please help us keep all of our children healthy by following these rules. If you have any questions or concerns please let us know. Thank you for your support!

2017/2018 School Year
As we embark on a new school year, it is imperative that we review VPK policies.
- Per State requirements, VPK student attendance is mandatory. Absences will require a doctor’s note. Children who are not attending on a regular basis may be subject to dis-enrollment. Our program is in demand. We currently have a waiting list for students wanting to attend VPK at Chesterbrook Academy.
- VPK classes are required to begin at 9:00 am SHARP! VPK instruction is only 3 hours a day and teachers need to start their daily routines on time. Please be sure to have your child ready to join the class a few minutes before the day begins.
- Drop-off is not the time to chat with your child’s teacher. Please schedule a specific time to meet if you would like to discuss your child’s progress or any concerns you may have.
- VPK dismissal is at 12:00 pm SHARP! Please be sure to pick up your child within 5 minutes of dismissal time. Instruction must resume for full-time students and teachers need to follow their daily schedule directly following VPK. Chronic late pick-ups are subject to late fees and or dis-enrollment.
Thank you for your support!

SIGN-IN & SIGN OUT:
Please, utilize the ipad at the front of the school to sign your child in and out each and every day. Signing your child in and out daily is not only a licensing and company policy but, an added security measure, which ensures all children are accounted for while in our care. PLEASE, BE DILIGENT ABOUT RECORDING YOUR CHILD’S ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE TIMES. Thank you!
TUITION:
We have seen a recent increase in families missing tuition payment deadlines. We really must collect tuition in a timely manner to meet our financial obligations. Please remember that tuition is due the 1st business day of every week. Accounts not paid in full by 12:00pm the second business day of every week are subject to late fees. If tuition is not paid in full your child may not attend until the balance is paid in full. Failure to comply with tuition policies will result in a notice of dis-enrollment. If you’d like to sign up for our ACH program, which automatically pulls your weekly tuition from the account of your choice the 1st business day of every week, just let us know and we will get you signed up.
ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS FEES:
If your child is signed up to attend a specific enrichment program, the monthly fee must be paid in full the first week of every month or your child may not attend the second week. Please understand, we are obligated to pay our physical fitness vendors in a timely manner for their services. Credits will not be issued for missed classes due to absence or non-payment.

December News
December Newsletter
The holiday season is upon us. Please, let the office know of any travel plans or vacations that you have planned. Remember you get one week’s vacation credit per year. Otherwise, you are required to pay tuition regardless of attendance. We have several different holidays that are represented here at Chesterbrook Academy. We would like to include all families traditions with the children. Please, let your child’s teacher know your family traditions so that we can share with your child’s classroom.
We will be having Ugly Sweater Day on Wednesday, December 19th. Please, dress your child up in the ugliest sweater that you can find. We would love to see every child in the school participate. We are asking that each family send in a wrapped book or two for our book exchange. The book does not need to be new but needs to be in good condition. Santa will be coming on Monday, December 17th to pass the books out to each child. If you do not wish for your child to participate in this activity, PLEASE, let the office know. We would like every child to be able to receive a book so bring in those books!!!!!!!!
Winter Clothing Reminder
If you’ve not already done so, please check your child’s cubby to ensure they have an extra set of weather appropriate clothes. Students also need to come to school each day with a jacket and dressed warm enough to play outside for part of the day. If the weather is brisk we still go outside for active games and SPARK activities and want everyone to be able to participate!
Holiday Giving Project
This year in conjunction with Scholastic Books, we are hosting a pajama drive. Scholastic will donate a book and a pair of pajamas for each pair of pajamas that we collect. Donations are due by December 12th in order to deliver to children in need by the holidays.
Parents Night Out
Lil’ Shopper’s Shoppe
The holidays are near and as a special service our school is hosting a Lil’ Shopper’s Shoppe. Children will have the opportunity to pick out their own inexpensive, high quality gifts for family and friends. The Lil’ Shopper’s Shoppe is a program designed for children to shop on their own at school, in a safe, non-commercial environment. They can learn to budget their money and spend wisely, while also experiencing the “Joy of Giving”.
The Lil’ Shopper’s Shoppe will be set up in the school. Gifts are priced for a child’s budget, ranging from approximately $.25 to $10, with most priced between $3 and $7. There are gifts available for ALL the members of your Lil’ Shopper’s family: Mom, Dad, Brother, Sister, Grandma, Grandpa, Aunts, Uncles, Friends, Teachers and Pets. You will receive an envelope to send money in for your child to go shopping.
