From the Principal’s Office
We hope everyone had a great, safe holiday season! It is nice to see everyone back and ready to start off the new year. We have been lucky with the weather this year, but just in case we have some bad weather this month, school closing will be announced on WCIA Channel 3, WIXY 100.3, 94.5, 92.5, 99.1 and 97.9. School closings will be announced as soon as possible but no later than 6:30am. We will also send out a message in Links to Home. We always try to stay open, but will keep everyone’s safety as our number one priority.
We continue to take the older children outside each day as long as the wind chill is above 32 degrees. In the winter, germs pass easily from one person to another due to the amount of time people spend together in small heated spaces. When we go outside, we avoid having re-breathe the germs of the group, therefore reducing the chance of spreading those germs. Please be sure to bring appropriate clothing including winter coats, hat, boots and gloves for your child.
Year end statements for the 2018 tax year are available upon request. Please let Heidi or Rachel know and they can print that out for you.
Until next month,
Heidi and Rachel

For Parents and Teachers
Please remind your child to wash hands on arrival or helping him/her to wash their hands. This is a practice we encourage to help reduce the spread of germs. In large group settings, it can be really hard to keep everyone healthy; washing hands on arrival is an easy way to help.
Please be sure to bring in a change of clothes for your child’s cubby if you haven’t already. The children prefer to change into their own clothes when they have an accident, so please check to see if there is one available for them.

Our next Professional Development Day is scheduled for February 18th. The school will be closed that day so the teachers can participate in workshops and trainings.
The next Parent Reports will be distributed the end of February. We will offer Parent/Teacher conferences for any parents who would like to discuss their child’s progress.
Valentine’s Day parties will be scheduled for February 14th at 3:00pm. The classrooms will have sign-up sheets for parents to sign up to bring treats. Please remember store bought items and peanut free. Your child can also bring valentine cards for their friends. The envelopes can be labeled or blank; the teacher can provide a list of first names.
