Greetings!
Will “Punxsutawney Phil” see his shadow on February 2nd? Your children will be able to vote on Friday, January 31st during drop off, see our chalkboard and vote “shadow or no shadow”. Children will talk about the “Shadow” and changes in the seasons and weather in their circle gatherings. We hope the rainy and snowy weather will pass quickly as the children miss going outdoors for gross motor play. On days where weather is 25 degrees or more we are required to take children outdoors per DHS regulations for a short period of time. This benefits children to breathe in fresh air.
On February 5th, “Hank the Health Hero” will be visiting with the boys and girls of Estelle Drive to share with us how we can be kind and loving to each other. Hank will help the children to identify their feelings and emotions. They will meet his friends Detective Duck and Breathing Buddy Bear to learn ways to handle their emotions through breathing and listening to the clues in their body.
Other activities for February can be found on our Activity Calendar on the Parent Board at school or on our website, at Estelle.chesterbrookacademy.com. Valentine’s Day is fast approaching. We will again be offering our Sweetheart’s Night Out on Friday, February 14th from 6-8 pm; see sign-sheet on the Resource Room Door next to the parent counter. The cost is $10.00 per child, $5.00 for a sibling, please pay by check to the office. Please make checks payable to Chesterbrook Academy.
Bear a Grams are available up to the day before Valentine’s Day. Bears are on the parent counter with tags to write a special message to your child. Bears are $4.00, please make checks payable to Chesterbrook Academy.
Your child’s teacher will soon be sending a Valentine Card Exchange list home for children to share cards. This is a great way to teach social skills and literacy to your children. Valentine Class Parties will be on Friday, February 14th. See classroom list for items needed.
A reminder that Monday, February 17th Chesterbrook Academy will be closed this day for a Professional Development Day for staff. We thank our families for allowing us this time to us to train our teachers in the field of Early Childhood Education.
Thank you for allowing us to care for your most precious possessions every day!
