Dear Chesterbrook Parents,
Spring is around the corner and that means warmer weather! In anticipation of spring, our teachers are busy planning meaningful learning activities that will help students gain an appreciation for the changing seasons. In order to make the most of the next few months we will be spending extra time outdoors so our students can interact with nature. Also, please check your child’s cubby to ensure they have the appropriate clothing needed for this season. Each child should have at least two pair of extra clothing and a pair of shoes. Please continue to send your child with weather appropriate outerwear for school each day.
Early bird registration will begin on March 4th. Watch for more information soon!
Thank you,
Tiffany Stillwell, Acting Principal

Recipe of the Month: Kid-Friendly Jambalaya
source: www.realkidseatspinach.com
1 tbs. olive oil
1/2 lb. diced chicken (breast, thigh, whatever)
salt & pepper
8 oz. turkey kielbasa, chicken sausage etc.
1 medium chopped onion
1 diced bell pepper
2 diced celery stalks
2 minced garlic cloves
1 1/2 cups brown rice
2-3 cups low sodium organic chicken broth
2 tsp. paprika
1 tsp. thyme
1 14.5 can of diced tomatoes (undrained)
large handful of diced green onion
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sprinkle chicken with salt and pepper; cook in skillet until no longer pink. Remove to a separate plate.
- Add sausage to skillet and cook until beginning to brown, then add onion through garlic. Stir to combine and lower heat to low. Cook for about 10-12 minutes until vegetables are beginning to soften.
- Add rice and stir to combine. Cook for a couple of minutes, stirring consistently. Add 2 cups of broth, can of tomatoes and paprika and thyme to skillet. Turn the heat back up to medium and allow to come to a boil, stirring occasionally.
- Lower heat and cover, cooking until rice is tender. This will take at least 20 minutes; add more broth if needed to keep things from getting too dry. Remove from heat and serve with green onions sprinkled on top.
- **If you like a little heat, both a little cayenne pepper or quick squirt of hot sauce will bring it up a notch for the grown-up portions.
