Dear Chesterbrook Parents,
Happy spring! We have a fun and busy month planned for our students. In each classroom we are focusing on art and science activities that celebrate spring.
Our students are looking forward to the egg hunt later this month on April 19th. We are taking donations of plastic eggs and treats to fill them with right up until the morning of the egg hunt. Each classroom will have the opportunity to collect eggs with special treats.
Our students always love our annual Earth Day celebration. This year we are releasing 15,000 ladybugs before having our school-wide Earth Day celebration. Students will have the opportunity to see these beetles up close while they take flight to help rid the area of destructive insect pests like aphids and mealybugs.
During the week of April 8-12, we will be celebrating the Week of the Young Child. This is an annual celebration hosted by NAEYC to spotlight early learning, young children, their teachers, families, and communities. We are very excited to be participating again this year.
This month we are also inviting families to share what makes them special. Speak to your child’s classroom teacher if you have a special hobby, talent, or job (doctors, emergency responders, etc.) you would like to share with the class.
As we begin preparing for summer and the next school year, please remember to let us know, if you haven’t already, if your child will be registering for another year. Please contact the front desk for questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Tiffany Stillwell, Assistant Principal

Tasty Tuesday– Tasty Tuesday isn’t just about eating yummy treats, it’s about cooking together and connecting math with literacy skills and science while introducing ways to incorporate healthy habits into children’s lifestyles. Children are invited to bring in their favorite fruit or vegetable for making a Friendship Salad for afternoon snack.
Work Together Wednesday– When children build together they experience teamwork and develop their social and early literacy skills. We will be grabbing a variety of recycled materials to create a box city! Watch for the display in our lobby.
Artsy Thursday – Children develop creativity, social skills, and fine muscles with open-ended art projects that let them make choices, use their imaginations, and create with their hands. We will be introducing the children to famous artists and have them create a replica piece in the artists’ style. We will create an art museum in our classrooms for parents to enjoy!
Family Event – Parents and families are children’s first teachers. Family Friday focuses on engaging families to support our youngest learners. Each classroom will have a special activity for parents to participate in at 4 pm. Join us for this shared experience of learning.
