Pumpkin spice is in the air!! The school year is flying by so fast already. We are almost already a quarter of the way through the school year! We have a lot of events coming up these next few months, so make sure to keep your calendar updated!!
We will be having our Fall Festival/Trunk or Treat on Saturday, October 26th. All families and friends are invited to join us for the festival. We will gladly take volunteers to run a game and all donations of prizes and/or snacks and beverages are welcome. Please, let us know if you would be willing to decorate your trunk for us!!
The week of October 6th is Fire Prevention Week. We will be scheduling a visit from the Sunrise Fire Department to educate the children on Fire Safety and allow the children to see the fire truck up close.
Our Charleston Wrap Fundraiser has started and will continue through Friday, October 11th. Remember this fundraiser is an online only fundraiser and all product will be delivered directly to your home. All products should be delivered during the week of October 27th. Click here for the online catalog. The school code is 12017. Use this code to register. You can send invites to family and friends, share on social media or text a link to your contact list. The more you sell the more prizes you earn. There are over 1,500 products to choose from online.
Our next Wacky Wednesday will be on Wednesday, October 9th. The theme of this month’s Wacky Wednesday is bring your Teddy Bear to school day! We are encouraging all children to bring their teddy bears to school.
Join us for the Jumpstart’s Read for the Record®, a global campaign that generates public support for high-quality early learning and highlights the importance of building children’s vocabulary and love for reading. On Thursday, November 7th children and adults worldwide will take action by participating in the world’s largest shared reading experience.
This year’s book will be “Thank You, Omu”. The Omu of this book is an elderly woman who makes a fantastic pot of thick red stew. The scent from her stew travels all throughout her neighborhood and brings all of her community members over to her home for a taste. By the end, she shares a lovely feast with her neighbors where everyone contributes to the meal. We will have special activities designed around the theme of the book for the children to participate in on this day.
There is no VPK on Wednesday, October 9th. There will also be no VPK on Friday, October 18th. All other classes will run as normally scheduled on these days. All full time children are permitted to attend as usual.
We will be having a Costume Parade on Thursday, October 31st at 10am around center court. Parents are invited to watch the children parade around to Halloween themed music. Parties will follow in each classroom.
Report cards will be going out this month for all classes. See your child’s teacher to sign up for a conference to discuss your child’s progress.
We will be having our annual Thanksgiving Luncheon on Tuesday, November 26th. Orders for the luncheon will be going out shortly.
We will be hosting a blood drive on Wednesday, October 13th, here at the school from 3-7pm. Each pint of blood that you give helps save others lives. Gifts will be provided for those who donate.
We will be closed on Monday, November 11th in observance of Veteran’s Day. Teacher’s will be attending Professional Development this day. Chesterbrook Academy will also be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28th.
Thank you all so much for supporting our Scholastic Book Fair. With the money earned from the book fair we were able to purchase several books for each classroom.

Menus
Menus are located in the front office. Please feel free to see us up front with any questions that you have about the menu or ordering. All menus are due by the due date listed on the bottom of the menu. If you do not turn your menu in on time, you will need to pack lunch for your child. This month’s lunch menu.
Uniforms
As a reminder: All students in our Beginner thru Pre-k programs are required to wear uniforms. The uniform consists of a Black Polo with the Chesterbrook Logo and Khaki bottoms. Please see the front desk to order uniforms.
Also, we have our FUN FRIDAY shirts on sale in the front office as well.
Our school VPK hours are 9:30AM-12:30pm. As a part of the VPK program, the state requires that all VPK students are at school during VPK hours. For more information, please see the front desk.
Reminders
Here are a few reminders and updates to keep us on track for the rest of the school year:
- Contact and Emergency Information: Please remember to update your information at the front desk if there are any changes.
- Lunch Menus: are due on the due date, so that we can order from the catering company. If we don’t have your child’s lunch menu, we can’t order a lunch. Please pack a lunch for your child if you haven’t filled out a lunch menu.
- Tuition: payments are due the 1st of each week. A $25 late fee will be applied to all tuition payments turned in after Monday of each week.
- Late pick-up: fees apply to children picked up after 6:15 pm. There is a fee of $1 per minute after 6:15 pm as stated on your tuition fee schedule agreement.
- Sick Policy: Children may be sent home if they have any concerning symptoms. In addition, a child must be free of all of these symptoms for at least 24 hours before he/she can return to school. These symptoms include:
- A Fever of 100 degrees or more
- Vomiting within the previous 24-hour period
- Diarrhea within the previous 24-hour period
- Symptoms of a communicable disease
- Fussy, cranky behavior and generally not himself/ herself
Following an illness, a child may return to school once he/she has either been seen by a doctor or it has been determined that illness is not contagious. ( A doctor’s clearance may be requested.) Please help us keep all of our children healthy by following these rules.
