November Newsletter

 Note From Our Principal

What a busy start to our Fall season!  Crisp weather, warm sweaters and boots, fall is my favorite time of year!  We are heading into our 4 month as Chesterbrook Academy, and I can not thank everyone enough for the their kind words, feedback and patience.  I am so excited to be back at College Hill, it truly is like being at hone. You may have noticed, we have a few exciting additions to announce.  We are in the process of having our cameras installed.  This process should be completed over the next few weeks.  I am looking forward to watching my little friends play while I work! 🙂  We also have received our new carpets.  Nothing makes a educator happier than when we get new things for our little friends and our classroom environments.  We will be working to install these new carpets over the next week.  They are super cute!

As the weather gets cooler,  please remember to check your little ones cubbies and update the items for the cooler weather.  We will still be heading outdoors each day until the weather is below 25 degrees.  Be sure to bring mittens and hats for those chillier days.

We have a number of fund family events planned over the next month as well as a few community programs and conferences.  It is going to be a busy end to the year!

Please know, my door is always open.  If you can not seem to find me in the office, I am likely supporting a classroom, reading a book or cuddling a baby.  There will be a board outside the office by the end of the week that will let families know where they can find me if I or Amanda are not in the office.

Thank you for all you do everyday to support our amazing educators and your child’s learning process.  Together in learning!

Warm regards,

Tanya Meshey

Illness Policy Reminder

Our parents are vital partners in helping us to maintain a safe and healthy environment for the students in our school. The most important thing you can do to assist us in creating a healthy environment is to keep your child home if they are ill. This reduces the spread of illness and allows your child to fully recuperate. Children may not attend school until they have been symptom free for 24 hours if they display any of the following:

  • Fever of 100 degrees of more—must be fever free for 24 hours with no fever-reducing medicine before returning to school
  • Vomiting, diarrhea or stomach upset
  • Heavy nasal discharge requiring wiping every 3-5 minutes
  • Persistent, non-productive or barking cough
  • Sore throat
  • Skin rash, including diaper rash
  • Head lice
  • Symptoms of a communicable disease
  • Fussy, cranky behavior unlike child’s normal demeanor that may indicate illness

For more information please see our Parent Handbook or reach out to a member of our administrative team.

Grand-friends

During our Fall celebration and parade we visited our grand-friends at Albright Life.  The children loved this event so much that we will begin visiting our grand-friends on a weekly basis starting this month.  This is an activity we have done in the past and it benefits not only our grand-friends but also our little ones as well.  Children create friendships with our older generation.  They learn, teach and most of all have fun!  Our gran-friends read stories to us, make art projects and sing songs.

Community Action

One of our favorite things to do this time of year is help those in need.  We have started a Toys for Tots program.  This program supports families in the community so that children have the opportunity to open gifts on Christmas morning.  The donation box is in our lobby.  Please feel free to bring toys to place in the box from now until the beginning of December.  We will be having each of the preschool classrooms participate by wrapping the presents to give to our community friends.

Thanksgiving Celebrations

Each of our classrooms will be celebrating Thanksgiving with a special lunch on November 26 at 11:15 pm. Students are making their own placemats, and table décor for this fun event. Although our lunch will not be the traditional Thanksgiving Feast, we will be serving a special Thanksgiving dessert.  Please check with your child’s classroom for any special instructions and feel free to attend if you’re able. We will be sharing plenty of photos through Links 2 Home as well!
