A Note From Our Principal,
We hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with loved ones and we enjoyed celebrating with you all last month. As the winter holidays approach we have many special events planned for our students and families and look forward to spending time with you all. We’ve also enclosed important winter and holiday procedure reminders in this newsletter. Please read through it carefully and reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Happy Holidays!
Inclement Weather Reminders
We do not always follow the closure schedule of the local public schools because we don’t have to contend with the same transportation issues as public schools. Our goal is to be open as many days as possible to support our working parents. If we must close because our teachers cannot safely get to work, you will receive a notification via Links 2 Home as soon as the closure is announced. We also post notifications on our website and Facebook page.
Winter Clothing Reminder
If you’ve not already done so, please check your child’s cubby to ensure they have an extra set of weather appropriate clothes. Students also need to come to school each day with a jacket and dressed warm enough to play outside for part of the day. If the weather is brisk we still go outside for active games and want everyone to be able to participate!
Our school is closed on December 25th for Christmas and January 1st for New Year’s Day. We will close at noon on December 24th Christmas Eve.
Winter Break Camp
We will be holding Winter Break Camp for our School-Age students from December 23rd-January 3rd. We will have, fun learning opportunities and holiday themed projects planned. Students may attend all or part of Winter Break Camp, please let us know by December 18th if your child will be attending.
*Tuition is still due during this time
Classroom Holiday Party & Celebrations—Friday, December 20th
Holiday Party Story Time with Cookies and Milk & Book Exchange
Through the month of December our classes will be learning about different winter holidays and customs. On Friday, December 20th at 3:00 p.m. our students will have cookies and milk and enjoy holiday story time. Parents are welcome to attend and volunteer to read stories to the students. Santa’s special friends will be here delivering books to our students.
We understand many of you have to work so we will be sure to share extra photos on Links 2 Home for those who cannot make it.
Some classes are collecting small extras for their celebratory snack, please check with your child’s teacher for more information.
Book Exchange- Friday December 20th
Please send in a book gift wrapped for your child. Please be sure to write your child’s name on the book. Please leave the books at the front desk, and we will make sure that the Elves receive them for a special delivery during our holiday story time!
We need all books in by the December 17th.
Holiday Giving Project
LowCountry Orphan Relief: The Lowcountry Orphan Relief, Inc. (LOR) is a non-profit organization that provides goods and services to children who have been abused or neglected. They work directly with other non-profits, schools, foster parents, and government agencies to identify the individual needs of these and other children in severe situations. They intervene at critical junctures in the lives of these children, with products and services that provide a strong, positive impact.
Today we will kick off our Toy Drive for the same organization. LOR only accepts new stuffed animals, not regular toys. Please send in new unwrapped stuffed animals for children of all ages. We’ll be collecting the stuffed animals until Thursday December 11th and will deliver all of the donations on Thursday December 12th.
Pre-K Classrooms 10 and 11
We will plan a field trip for our Pre-K classrooms to help with the delivery. Please sign the permission slip at the front desk if you would like for your child to attend the field trip.
Thank you all for your partnership and contribution to this project. The clothing donations and stuffed animals for The LowCountry Orphan Relief will absolutely positively impact the lives of many children.
