August 2020
Dear Chesterbrook Parents,
I cannot believe it is almost August! This past month flew by! August is back to school month and we are looking forward to having more students join and return to Chesterbrook Academy. We have some exciting activities and Spirit Days planned during the month of August. We will highlight the following children’s books: Chrysanthumum by Kevin Henkes, Go Dog Go by Dr. Seuss, Roller Coaster by Marla Frazee, Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister and Even Superheroes Have Bad Days by Shelly Becker. Zach our Assistant Principal and I will be going into the classrooms and reading the books to our students. Also, during August we will elevate our school spirit with special days including: Dress Like your Teacher Day, Animal Shirt Day, Build a Silly Outfit Day and Rainbow Week where students will wear clothes in a color of the rainbow each day of the week. This builds our students awareness of the primary colors. During morning announcements we will be building our students’ number sense by counting by 1s, 2s, 5s and 10s. On Fridays we will make the morning extra special by implementing Bust-A-Move Friday! As students enter the building at arrival time we will be playing energizing and fun music including music from popular children’s movies like: Frozen, The Lion King, Shrek and more. Hopefully, this activity will get everyone off to a positive start on Fridays!
We will continue to implement the safety measures for COVID-19 in order to keep our students and staff safe. These precautions include:
– Social distancing for all throughout centers in the classrooms
– Temperature checks for staff and children at arrival
– Wearing of masks by staff and children 2 years and older
– Rotating of toys to sanitize and clean them between use
– Limiting groups sizes on the playgrounds
– Sanitizing playground equipment after uses
– Creating age group cohorts to limit the number of children each child encounters during the day
Hot meals for children will start again on Monday, August 3rd. We know the children will be excited about adding meals into their school day again. Hopefully, this makes it easier on parents as well.
On behalf of the Chesterbrook Staff we want to thank you for your continued support and cooperation with our curriculum, safety precautions and arrival and dismissal routines. As partners we will continue to provide our students with a top notch Birth- 6 years Pre-School education. If you have any questions or ideas for improving our school please feel free to call me at (717) 392- 5828.
