September News

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! We made it through the first two weeks of school, and the children are adjusting well to their new school environment. Goodbyes are getting a little easier for all! What a joy to see our returning students who have moved to the next level as well as the many new families who have joined our academy this year. Thank you, for your continued support and trust. We are committed to providing your children with the best educational opportunities possible and look forward to all the fun and learning this school year has in store for us.

Our teachers have a busy fall planned, so please remember to review your emails daily and the Links2Home app.  You can find the Links2Home app in the apple store or the google play store.

Beginning September 1st, our Links to Learning curriculum will be in full swing. You will start to see evidence of what your child is learning at school onthe daily Links 2 Home communication with an overview of “What We Learned Today” emailed daily. Learning activities are taking place daily, in all age groups and displayed. You can expect to receive your child’s “My Fun and Busy Month” folder, sent home at the end of every month. Not all learning ends with a tangible product, and sometimes it’s a learning experience. For this reason, teachers are committed to communicating with you daily, weekly, monthly about the learning that is going on in their classroom. We also like to take pictures, so you can see the steps your child took to learn a particular skill. Alright, enough of me telling you about how we show evidence of learning, I will let the teachers take over from here.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful children!

Melody McDonald

We will be closed on Labor Day

Monday, September 7th

We will be looking into doing an online book fair this fall.  Since, we are unable to support an in person book fair we want to be able to offer the children an opportunity to still participate and receive books of their choosing in order to fulfill their love of reading.

We are still looking at the possibility of offering our fall picture day.  Currently, we are scheduled to take pictures on Monday, September 14th through Wednesday, September 16th.  We are looking into whether or not we will be able to offer this as a no contact, safe option for our children.  We will let you know as soon as we know whether or not we will be able to offer this service this semester.

Each Friday we offer the children an opportunity to get ice cream from the ice cream freezer.  Ice cream is $2 in the front office.  You can pay weekly or pay in advance for as many weeks as you would like.

Helpful Tips to Encourage Handwashing

Handwashing is an easy way to prevent the spread of germs and keep your family healthy. We teach the importance of handwashing and practice throughout the day at school, but we encourage you to continue this healthy habit at home. Remind your child to wash his hands throughout the day,[.....]

All children in the Beginner classes and above are required to wear school uniforms. Chesterbrook Academy Logo shirts are available for sale online at http://ftlauderdalecb231.qbstores.com  Remember, shirts MUST be black.  We also have our Fun Friday t-shirts for sale in the front office.  $15 a piece and can be worn on Fridays.

The purpose of our sick policy is to reduce the spread of illness among our students and to encourage full recuperation of sick children before they return to school. We depend on parents to assist us in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all of our children.

Sick Policy:

Children may be sent home if they have any concerning symptoms. In addition, a child must be free of all of these symptoms for at least 24 hours before he/she can return to school. These symptoms include:

  • Coughing, sneezing, runny nose
  • fever of 100.4 or higher (temperature checks will be done at the front door and periodically throughout the day)
  • vomiting
  • diarrhea
  • rash
  • unusual fussiness, crankiness or sleepiness

Following an illness, a child may return to school once he/she has either been seen by a doctor or it has been determined that illness is not contagious or 48 hours symptom free without fever reducing medication. (A doctor’s clearance may be requested.) Please help us keep all of our children healthy by following these rules. If you have any questions or concerns please let us know. Thank you for your support!

We have seen a recent increase in families missing tuition payment deadlines. We really must collect tuition in a timely manner to meet our financial obligations. Please remember that tuition is due the 1st business day of every week. Accounts not paid in full by 12:00pm the second business day of every week are subject to late fees. If tuition is not paid in full your child may not attend until the balance is paid in full. Failure to comply with tuition policies will result in a notice of dis-enrollment. If you’d like to sign up for our ACH program, which automatically pulls your weekly tuition from the account of your choice the 1st business day of every week, just let us know and we will get you signed up.

We will be trying out Yummy in my Tummy for the month of September.  If we get enough orders we will commit to offering this program going forward.  If we do not have enough orders to support this program, we will not be able to offer it. Monthly lunch order forms are available two weeks prior to each new month. Please be sure to turn your lunch order in with payment no later than the posted deadline. Late orders may not be honored. Pizza Friday orders for the entire month must also be turned in by the deadline.

A Powerful Connection to a Lifetime of Learning

Your children experience the perfect balance of learning and play in a safe, nurturing environment. Our Links to Learning (LTL) curriculum prepares them for kindergarten by introducing concepts in reading, math, art, music and much more. You will receive progress updates, as well as ideas to continue learning at home.
