Dear Chesterbrook Academy Parents,
We hope your children enjoyed their fall lessons, pumpkin themed activities and classroom celebrations last month. Seeing our students enjoy their Halloween costumes and Fall attire is one of the highlights of the year for us. Thank you for allowing us to be part of these special occasions! This month we are focusing on gratitude and connecting with others. As our students engage in November learning activities our staff will be sharing photos with you all on Links 2 Home.
Our parents are vital partners in helping us to maintain a safe and healthy environment for the students in our school. The most important thing you can do to assist us in creating a healthy environment is to keep your child home if they are ill. This reduces the spread of illness and allows your child to fully recuperate. For more information please see our Parent Handbook or reach out to a member of our administrative team.
November is a time of Thanksgiving and being grateful for the blessings we have in our lives. It is a time for family to gather and enjoy good food and time together. I know we are all looking forward to spending time with family on Thanksgiving Day. At Chesterbrook Academy 710 we have some fun and exciting activities planned for the month of November.
November Weekly Themes are as follows:
Week of 11/2- Books/Favorite Authors
Week of 11/9-STEAM- Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics
Week of 11/16- Recycling
Week of 11/23- Thanksgiving
We will be doing a family project called the Turkey Disguise art project. Families will be given a Tom the Turkey template. Then, at home families work together to give Tom the Turkey a disguise to keep Tom the Turkey off the Thanksgiving dinner plate. You may use items found around the house to create your turkey disguise like fabric, paper scraps, ribbons, tissue paper, craft feathers and crayons. You might want to disguise Tom the Turkey as a superhero, cartoon character, football player or ballerina. Think of a disguise that is unique and special. We will be posting these Tom the Turkey Disguises in the school for all to enjoy them.
I will be going into classrooms to read to students: The week of October 2nd I will be reading, How Do Dinosaurs Eat Their Food? by Jane Yolen. The week of October 9th I will be reading Not a Box by Antoinette Partis. The week of October 16th I will be reading The Earth Book by Todd Parr and the week of October 23rd I will be reading Twas’ the Night Before Thanksgiving by Dave Pilkey.
Throughout the month, we will have a variety of Spirit Days. Here is a list of our Spirit Days:
Wednesday, November 4th-Wear clothes backwards day
Tuesday, November 10th-Dress Like a Scientist day
Wednesday, November 18th– Mickey Mouse’s Birthday!!!- Wear your Favorite Disney Shirt or outfit
Wednesday, November 25th– Pajama Day
During the month of November our students will be engaging in school wide art projects on Thursdays. These projects include creating Classroom Books, creating a robot, creating an art project with recyclable items. So be on the look for these items coming home.
One way we get the word out about our outstanding school is through Yelp Reviews and Google Reviews. Recently, we sent you an email message with instructions on how to submit a review of our school if you would like to. If you have questions or need more information about reviews let us know.
I am grateful for so many blessings in my life including working with you and your children. Thank you for sharing your most precious treasures with us. On behalf of the Chesterbrook Academy Staff, we wish you a Happy Thanksgiving.
Respectfully,
Miss Colleen
