November 2020 News

The school year is fast underway.  We are already almost halfway through the year.  The holidays are around the corner, and the children are learning so much information!!!  We have been having such an exciting time here at Chesterbrook and we are so excited to share our daily lives with you and your children.

As the weather is turning colder make sure that your child has the proper change of clothing in their cubby.  All children, regardless of age, should have at least one complete change of clothing in their cubby.  This includes children who are potty trained, as messy play and accidents do occasionally happen.  We do not have extra changes of clothes stored at the school, so if your child does not have a change of clothing, you will be called to come provide one for your child.

Please, if you or your child are not feeling well, please, keep them at home.  We do not want to risk the chance of having to close down a room or the school.  For the safety of all the children, staff, and other families, we appreciate your understanding.

This year we will be doing an Angel Tree for the holidays.  Be looking out for more information on the Angel Tree as it becomes closer.

We will be hosting an online book fair November 8th thru November 21st.  You can purchase books online from our bookfair and they will be sent directly to the school for you to pick up, or you may have the option for extra charge to have the books shipped to your house.  You can send the link to grandparents, family and friends.  The books will be delivered in time for the holidays!

Saturday, November 7th we will be having an Open House. Remember, if you refer a friend and they say your name upon enrollment and stay enrolled 90 days or more then you will receive a free week of tuition for a full time enrollment or $100 off tuition for a part time enrollment.

On Tuesday, November 16th we will be hosting a Thanksgiving picnic.  We will have sign up sheets for the parents to contribute to our Thanksgiving picnics.

On Wednesday, November 18th we will have Wacky Wednesday.  In celebration of National Absurdity Day, we are encouraging the children to dress as absurd as you can think of!

Remember we will be closed on Wednesday, November 11 for Veteran’s Day.  We will be hosting our annual Professional Development Day for the teachers on this day.  We will be brushing up on our skills and delving into the new research out there.  We will also be closed on Thursday, November 26th to celebrate Thanksgiving.  Please, let us know if you plan on having your child attend on Friday, November 27th.

  • Vomiting within the previous 24-hour period
  • Diarrhea within the previous 24-hour period
  • Symptoms of a communicable disease

  • Any symptoms of COVID-19

Following an illness, a child may return to school once he/she has either been seen by a doctor or it has been determined that illness is not contagious. (A doctor’s clearance may be requested.) We will be open the day after Thanksgiving.  If you plan on having your child attend, please, let us know.  We want to work out a staffing schedule to where we have enough staff to cover children who are going to be here, while giving as many employees the day off to spend with family and celebrate the holiday.

2020-2021 School Year
August 19, 2020 – June 6, 2021

As we embark on a new school year, it is imperative that we review VPK policies.
  • Per State requirements, VPK student attendance is mandatory.  Absences will require a doctor’s note. Children who are not attending on a regular basis may be subject to dis-enrollment.  Our program is in demand. We currently have a waiting list for students wanting to attend VPK at Chesterbrook Academy.
  • VPK classes are required to begin at 9:30 am SHARP! VPK instruction is only 3 hours a day and teachers need to start their daily routines on time. Please be sure to have your child ready to join the class a few minutes before the day begins.
  • Drop-off is not the time to chat with your child’s teacher. Please schedule a specific time to meet if you would like to discuss your child’s progress or any concerns you may have.
  • VPK dismissal is at 12:30 pm SHARP! Please be sure to pick up your child within 5 minutes of dismissal time. Instruction must resume for full-time students and teachers need to follow their daily schedule directly following VPK. Chronic late pick-ups are subject to late fees and or dis-enrollment.

Thank you for your support!

Post-It-Note---Reminders
TUITION:

We have seen a recent increase in families missing tuition payment deadlines. We really must collect tuition in a timely manner to meet our financial obligations. Please remember that tuition is due the 1st business day of every week. Accounts not paid in full by 12:00pm the second business day of every week are subject to late fees. If tuition is not paid in full your child may not attend until the balance is paid in full. Failure to comply with tuition policies will result in a notice of dis-enrollment. If you’d like to sign up for our ACH program, which automatically pulls your weekly tuition from the account of your choice the 1st business day of every week, just let us know and we will get you signed up. You also have access to paying online through our website and the ALMA parent portal.
