Danielle Lynch - Environmental Education/Reading Specialist

Welcome to the 2018-2019 CBA community! My name is Danielle Lynch and I am excited to be teaching Environmental Education this school year.  My classroom website is a convenient way to stay connected to everything that’s happening in our class. You can find our weekly schedule, classroom announcements, upcoming events, and topics that the students will be learning. You can contact me via email with any questions you may have throughout the school year.  My email is danielle.lynch@nlcinc.com

Here is a little bit about myself.  I graduated from the West Chester Area Schools.  During school I played field hockey, cross country, and lacrosse.  After graduating I went to Jame Madison University and majored in Kinesiology and received my masters in education.  Volunteerism is very important to me, so I later spent 9 months in Moshi, Tanzania working with children.  Since returning I have taught kindergarten and second grade as well as before and after school programs.  I am currently receiving my Master Gardener certification for Penn State University. This will be my 4th year teaching  here at Chesterbrook Academy and I am looking forward to a great year with all of you.

Classroom Notes

It has been a very exciting and busy start to the school year!  Our fall garden is ready to go, filled with cabbage, Brussel sprouts, broccoli, collard greens, cauliflower, beets and more!  The kids have been hard at work learning about soil, harvesting seeds and the scientific method.  In October we have a visit from Betsy Beltz, head gardener at Longwood Gardens!  We will also be starting our school wide composting program.  In November we began studying wetlands, watersheds and why protecting our freshwater habitats is so important.  5th grade began their rain garden designs and 1st grade took a field trip to the Brandywine Red clay Alliance.
