Welcome to Art Class! I am excited to a part of the Chesterbrook Academy community for the 2020-21 year as your Art Teacher!

Art class may look a little different this year as I travel into your classroom or even outside to create with our students. We will be exploring different art mediums, artists as well as art movements this year.  I encourage our artists to experiment, make mistakes and explore their passions!

About Me…  This is my 8th year teaching Elementary Art, I have also taught Middle School Fine Arts and Media Arts.  After graduating with a BFA in Graphic Design, I began my career as a Graphic Designer and Art Director.  Twelve years ago I found my true passion, bringing art to young amazing students.  I grew up in Ocean City, NJ but currently live in Collegeville, PA with my family and lovable Great Pyrenes, Bailey.  My three amazing kids are now young adults, with one left in college.  I am looking forward to creating many masterpieces with our students here at Chesterbrook Academy!

Artsonia is our school’s Online Art Gallery! Every month your child’s art work will be uploaded and displayed on this amazing online Art Gallery.  Artsonia is a great way for parents to view see what your child is creating in Art Class, share with relatives and even leave positive comments for our artists!  Visit our Chesterbrook Academy Elementary’s Gallery HERE!

October’s focus in Art Classes has been exploring Mexican Folk Art!  In First Grade we created festive painted Mexican Sombreros.  In Second Grade we examined the colors and patterns of Mexican weavings and made Huipils out of cut paper.  Third Grade had fun making decorative Mexican Guitars out of paper and Fourth Grade learned more about radial symmetry and embossing as they created amazing Mexican Mirrors.  Fifth Grade designed their own Sugar Skull Collages in time for El Did de los Muertos!  Pre-K and Kindergarten continued using lines and shapes and exploring new mediums to create new art work each week!
