Ms. Michelle Green - STEAM

Welcome To STEAM Class! My name is Ms. Green and I am the STEAM teacher for Chesterbrook Academy.  This is my first year here, but I have many years of experience in teaching.  In college I tutored and worked with Computer Science students for about 4 years.  Then I went on to teach first grade, second grade, third grade, and 5th and 6th grade.  I also owned my own preschool for 2 years.  Then I went back to college and obtained my master’s degree in technology where I focused on graphics and coding.  After that I helped run a business for family and also worked at a nonprofit organization to help women with their babies and children.  Last year I worked with middle school and high school students and this year I am happy to work with Pre-K through 6th grade.  I love to teach no matter what the grade level or what the subject.  However, I do have a lot of experience in computers and coding.  My classroom philosophy focuses on providing a positive classroom environment with challenging activities where students are able to learn and develop important character traits.  I emphasize treating others with kindness and learning how to communicate effectively with one another in a caring and encouraging way.

Dance Mat Typing is a free online game that teaches kids to touch-type using the home-row method. Students progress through 12 stages within four levels (three stages per level) that slowly build the number of keys they’re expected to master.
