Get to Know CBA’s the Physical Education Teacher

I love teaching at CBA because of the small class sizes. The smaller teacher to student ratio allows us to form meaningful and lasting connections with the children and gives us the ability to better focus on individual needs.

Three fun facts:

1. I play rugby for Raleigh Rugby Club and have had the opportunity to play for USA Rugby as well as playing internationally

2. I graduated from Meredith College in 2014

3. While in college, I studied abroad in Australia where I studied mass media and interpersonal communication

A little about my background: I’ve been a certified personal trainer for about 5 years specializing in youth health and fitness. I have also coached elementary aged children in soccer and rugby as well as swim lessons and swim team for over a decade. I am excited to use my knowledge and experience to help develop children’s fine and gross motor skills as well as increase their knowledge of a variety of different games and sports.

CBA P.E Program!

Pre-K – Elementary School

Our established Physical Education program here at CBA provides students with the ability and confidence to be physically active for a lifetime. The curriculum provides cognitive content that helps to develop motor skills of all ages. We focus on the fundamentals of sports and games both traditional and nontraditional. Each topic has a way to weave in fitness while learning teamwork and strategy.

Another focus that is important to us is using fitness as a foundation for good nutrition. We teach the importance of learning about healthy heart rates. Every year CBA teams up with the American Heart Association to complete the Kids Heart Challenge. In February 2020, CBA raised over $3,000 collectively for the American Heart Association.

See Class References for a Link for more information about the challenge!
