Maxwell Wienecke - STEM Teacher

Get to Know CBA’s STEM Teacher

I truly love to learn and I have found that nothing teaches me more about myself than helping others grow. Then to watch myself grow and become a better teacher… which then helps my students to learn more… which then helps me to teach better… you get the idea! It brings me such a feeling of joy and purpose that I couldn’t see myself doing anything else.

Interesting things about myself

a) At one point in my life I owned 3 cows, 5 goats, 4 dogs, 3 cats, 2 rabbits, and about 110 chickens all at the same time. (no partridge was involved but I did have a pear tree)

b) I can play most musical instruments, even some of them well, and I often can be found with a book in my hand and occasionally a frying pan (I love to cook).

c) This fall I am becoming a certified yoga instructor and can walk on my hands!

After years of tutoring while in high school, I made the decision to go to East Carolina University and Major in Mathematics Education. This lead me to eventually earn my Masters Degree in Economics. I returned to Raleigh and took a position as the resident Math Professor at Miller-Motte College (MMC) Raleigh, a title that I still hold today.

For a time, while teaching Math as a Professor, I began working with three Wake Forest families in developing a piece of old farmland into a working educational farm; hence all the animals.
