Ms. Skyler Guin - Art Teacher

“The important thing is to create”

Pablo Picasso

Hello! I am so happy you are here! My name is Skyler Guin and I am the Art Teacher at Chesterbrook Academy North Raleigh!

My email is skyler.guin@chesterbrookacademy.com if you need to reach me.

I received my BA from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in Psychology with a minor in Studio Art. Currently, I am studying for my Masters at Wake Forest University. This is my fourth school year at Chesterbrook Academy. I began as a teaching assistant in Pre-K, then Kindergarten, and Second Grade. This is my second year teaching art! During my free time, I enjoy spending time with my fiancee and our fur-children, Ava and Nadia. We enjoy hiking, camping, swimming, and being outdoors.

I believe there is a lot of value in an art education. Not only will the students learn art techniques, skills, and terms, but they will also learn problem solving skills, creative thinking, and inventiveness, which will last a lifetime. In my art classroom, we spend one month intensively studying an artist, as a whole school. All students from Intermediate to Fifth Grade will focus on the same artist, but will create masterpieces based on their skill level. Throughout the year we will focus on painting, portrait drawing, elements of art, principles of design, clay making, sculpture making, fiber arts, and more!
