Mrs. Tanuja Hasan - Intermediate

I would like to introduce myself. My name is Tanuja Hasan, and I am the Lead Teacher for an Intermediate classroom at Chesterbrook Academy Elementary and Preschool. I am excited for your family to be part of our classroom community for the 2019/2020 school year.
This website is a great way to stay connected and up to date with class announcements, schedules, upcoming and current events within our classroom and school as well. If you have any questions or concerns, you can contact me via email. My email is: tanuja.hasan@nlcinc.com
I am a dedicated individual with a family of four. I recently moved from Alpharetta, Georgia with my husband and two lovely children Umar and Umaiza. Umar currently is in Pre-K here in Chesterbrook Academy. My daughter will be joining in the next school year.
I recently joined Chesterbrook Academy and am excited to be part of this wonderful institute. I have been working with the company for three years. I have five years of experience in working with young children. I earned my bachelor’s degree in May 2014 from York College (CUNY) majoring in English/Early Childhood Education. I came from a family of teachers- from my grandfather to my mother. Therefore, I am very passionate and enthusiastic about teaching, especially with younger kids. I enjoy reading, and the knowledge, and the perspective that my reading gives me has strengthened my teaching skills and presentation abilities.

Classroom Notes

Our goal is to provide the the students with the opportunities to be able familiarize themselves with Language and Literacy, Math, science, and social studies. We emphasize on students being able to recognize some letters and letter sound, and recognize some numbers. We go over days of the week daily to establish the understanding the concept of today, tomorrow, and yesterday. We practice writing names so that students recognize the letters on their names. We work both as small group and large group. Our activities are mostly hands on. Students have plenty of opportunity to touch and feel real found material and manipulative. our dramatic play is designed to give students an idea of home living. Through out the day students have the opportunities to play in centers such as block, science, manipulative, dramatic play, library, writing and art. Each day we have specialty classes: Spanish, Steam, drama, music and PE.

We are learning Nursery Rhymes this week through various activities. The nursery rhyme of the week is “Little Miss Muffet.” Students will be able to draw a picture of Little Miss Muffet and make a spider using paper plates and construction paper.

The lesson plan for the week and the links to learning are posted on the parent board every week for your reference.
