APRIL NEWS

Dear Parents,

Re-registration was a huge success! Thank you for taking advantage of our early bird period by securing your child’s space for the 2016/2017 school year. We are excited and thankful you have decided once again to choose Chesterbrook Academy for your child’s continuing education, and look forward to another year of watching your treasures grow in our care!

We are in the final stretch of our 2015/2016 school year, and it is clearly evident that our children are reaching new heights in development. Many of our children are working on skills that are on a higher level to meet their growing needs. That’s the beauty of our Links to Learning curriculum, it grows with your child. That said, student transitions to the next level will take place on June 1st after our VPK/Pre-K graduation. You will be notified in advance to prepare your child for what lies ahead.

Whew…we survived our three picture days! Thank you for your patience while we shifted classrooms and children around to accommodate our part time and full time families as well as sibling pictures. It’s not an easy task making sure everyone’s needs are met, but as far as I can tell, it looked like the Lifetouch team did a good job capturing all those beautiful faces. Portrait packages should arrive in about 2 weeks. Remember, you are not obligated to purchase portraits.

Planning continues for our Pre-Kindergarten graduation ceremony. The date will be Friday, May 20th. Specific times for each classroom is posted in our front lobby.  Graduation will be held at the Port St. Lucie Community Center. More communication will follow as we get closer to graduation day. Due to the number of graduates this year, we have split our graduation ceremony into two time frames. This will ensure seating for all family members and guests who attend. How exciting…our graduating class of 2016!!!! You should have already turned in your order form and payment for a cap & gown or 2016 tassel. Orders must be placed on Monday, 4/4 to ensure delivery by graduation day. Please don’t forget to email your child’s baby picture to Ms. Pezzullo: nicole.pezzullo@nlcinc.com.

WEEK OF THE YOUNG CHILD
woyc 2
April 10 – 16
Join us in celebrating our youngest learners!

Week of the Young Child was established in 1974 by NAEYC (National Association  for the Education of Young Children) to focus attention on the needs of young children and recognizing the importance of early childhood education.

Our theme for WOYC this year is, “Our Garden of Friends”. All age groups will plant seeds to grow a garden on our school playground. They will learn about caring for plants, and it will also be a great tie-in with our Earth Day Ladybug Release on 4/22

Ladybugs eat other harmful pests like aphids and mealybugs providing an earth friendly way to maintain the eco-system without using harsh chemicals. Our students will have an opportunity to explore their senses as they hold ladybugs and watch them fly off to do their part in helping planet earth stay healthy and green. The excitement our children will have in releasing these little ladybugs is sure to be a sight to see!
What a great nature education opportunity for all!

A Powerful Connection to a Lifetime of Learning

Your children experience the perfect balance of of learning and play in a safe, nurturing environment. Our Links to Learning (LTL) curriculum prepares them for kindergarten by introducing concepts in reading, math, art, music and much more. You will receive progress updates, as well as ideas to continue learning at home.

As a reminder, we encourage you to take a few moments each week to review your child’s classroom Links to Learning “Parent Board”. This is one way you can “Link” to your child’s early education experiences. Posted are “Weekly Skills”, “Lesson Plan”, “Daily Schedule”, “Monthly Spanish”, “Learning Outcomes” and the daily “What We Learned Today”.

“My Fun and Busy Month” folders go home the last Friday of every month. Please review and enjoy the contents, then return the empty folder to your child’s teacher for the following month.

We hope you enjoy linking to what your child is learning at school!

SICK_FACE

SICK POLICY REMINDER:

The purpose of our sick policy is to reduce the spread of illness among our students and to encourage full recuperation of sick children before they return to school.  We depend on parents to assist us in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all of our children.

Sick Policy:
Children may be sent home if they have any concerning symptoms. In addition, a child must be free of all of these symptoms for at least 24 hours before he/she can return to school. These symptoms include:
  •  A Fever of 100 degrees or more
  • Vomiting within the previous 24-hour period
  • Diarrhea within the previous 24-hour period
  • Symptoms of a communicable disease
  • Fussy, cranky behavior and generally not himself/ herself

Following an illness, a child may return to school once he/she has either been seen by a doctor or it has been determined that illness is not contagious. (A doctor’s clearance may be requested.) Please help us keep all of our children healthy by following these rules. If you have any questions or concerns please let us know. Thank you for your support!

REMEMBER FINGER WITH STRING

TUITION:

We have seen a recent increase in families missing tuition payment deadlines. We really must collect tuition in a timely manner to meet our financial obligations. Please remember that tuition is due the 1st business day of every month. Accounts not paid in full by 12:00pm the second business day of every month are subject to late fees. If tuition is not paid in full by the 7th business day of each month your child may not attend until the balance is paid in full. Failure to comply with tuition policies will result in a notice of dis-enrollment. If you’d like to sign up for our ACH program, which automatically pulls your monthly tuition from the account of your choice the 1st business day of every month, just let us know and we will get you signed up.

ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS FEES:

If your child is signed up to attend a specific enrichment program, the monthly fee must be paid in full the first week of every month or your child may not attend the second week. Please understand, we are obligated to pay our physical fitness vendors in a timely manner for their services. Credits will not be issued for missed classes due to absence or non-payment.
