Dear Parents,
Re-registration was a huge success! Thank you for taking advantage of our early bird period by securing your child’s space for the 2018/2019 school year. We are excited and thankful you have decided once again to choose Chesterbrook Academy for your child’s continuing education, and look forward to another year of watching your treasures grow in our care!
We are in the final stretch of our 2017/2018 school year, and it is clearly evident that our children are reaching new heights in development. Many of our students are working on higher level skills to meet their growing needs. That’s the beauty of our Links to Learning curriculum; it grows with your child. That said, student transitions to the next level will take place during the second week of June. You will be notified in advance to prepare your child for what lies ahead.
Spring Pictures are on there way! We will have two days: April 4th and 5th. We will be having individual, group, and sibling pictures. Lifetouch does a great job capturing all those beautiful faces. Portrait packages should arrive in about two weeks after the pictures are done. Remember, you are not obligated to purchase pictures, but must return them. By the way, if your child took VPK Graduation pictures will be here April 2nd. Please stop by the front desk to review your pictures.
Planning continues for our Pre-Kindergarten graduation ceremony. The date will be Monday, June 7th at 10 to 11:30. Graduation will be held at the Sagemont Lower School. Additional communication will follow as we get closer to graduation day. It will ensure seating for all family members and guests to attend. We also have a fun filled week planned for all the graduates the last week of school. Details will follow. How exciting our graduating class of 2018!
Mark your calendar! Our annual Project Greenway Earth Day Fashion Show will be on Friday, April 23rd at 10:00am our students will participate in a hands-on learning experience about the environment as they release 6,000 ladybugs to commemorate Earth Day as well as being dressed the part. We have examples below on how you can dress your child. You don’t have to go out and buy anything, you can use items around the house. It is never too early to start teaching children the importance of keeping our planet clean and learning how to reduce, reuse, and recycle. With a little guidance and supervision, children can get creative helping our earth. After all, small steps can lead to big changes. Our annual Earth Day Ladybug release program is a pest management initiative. Ladybugs eat other harmful pests like aphids and mealybugs providing an earth-friendly way to maintain the ecosystem without using harsh chemicals. On release day each child will have an opportunity to explore their senses as they hold ladybugs and watch them fly off to do their part in helping planet earth stay healthy and green. The excitement the children will have in releasing these little ladybugs is a sight to see. What a great nature experience. Leading up to this event, students will explore, create, and learn about the life cycle of a ladybug. Parents are more than welcome to come and enjoy the festivities. Don’t forget your camera!

SICK POLICY:
The purpose of our sick policy is to reduce the spread of illness among our students and to encourage full recuperation of sick children before they return to school. We depend on parents to assist us in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all of our children.
Children may be sent home if they have any concerning symptoms. Also, a child must be free of all of these symptoms for at least 24 hours before he/she can return to school. These symptoms include:
A Fever of 100 degrees or more
Vomiting within the previous 24-hour period
Diarrhea within the previous 24-hour period
Symptoms of a communicable disease
Fussy, cranky behavior and not himself/ herself
Following an illness, a child may return to school once he/she has either been seen by a doctor or it has been determined that illness is not contagious. (A doctor’s clearance may be requested.) Please help us keep all of our children healthy by following these rules. If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know. Thank you for your support!
TUITION:
Tuition is due the 1st business day of every month. Accounts not paid in full by 12:00 pm the fifth business day of every month will automatically receive a late fee of $25. If tuition is not paid in full by the 7th business day of each month your child may not attend until the balance is paid in full. Failure to comply with tuition policies will result in a notice of dis-enrollment. If you’d like to sign up for our ACH program, which automatically pulls your monthly tuition from the account of your choice the 1st business day of every month, just let us know, and we will help you enrolled.
ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS FEES:
If your child is signed up to attend a specific enrichment program, the monthly fee must be paid in full the first week of every month or your child may not attend the second week. Please understand, we are obligated to pay our physical fitness vendors in a timely manner for their services. Credits will not be issued for missed classes due to absence or non-payment.
CATERED LUNCH PROGRAM
ADVANCE ORDERING REQUIRED
Monthly lunch order forms are available two weeks prior to each new month. Please be sure to turn your lunch order in with payment no later than the posted deadline. Late orders may not be honored. Pizza Friday orders for the entire month must also be turned in by the deadline.
Ordering lunch is an optional service. You may also send lunch from home.
WE NEED YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT AND PATIENCE! PARKING – As many of you have experienced, finding a parking space between 9:15am & 9:30am and 12:15am & 12:30pm is quite challenging. We are asking families to please be considerate during drop-off and pick-up times by not parking in an area that is not a designated parking space. There is a field on the north side of the building that we have permission to use for parking. You are welcome to park there during drop-off and pick-up times. PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN FRONT OF THE DUMPSTER. The Pembroke Pines Police Department will periodically patrol our parking lot during peak hours and issue citations for any vehicles that are parked illegally. If you have any concerns, please report them to the administration. Thank you!
