Dear Chesterbrook Families,
Spring is (sort of ) here! Please make sure to check your child’s cubby to ensure they have weather appropriate clothing. Teachers will also be doing a bit of spring cleaning to ensure that all cubbies are neat and tidy. Any items that need to be sent home will be placed in a bag for pick-up.
Classroom of the Month: This month we are celebrating our Beginner A classroom. Mrs. Cindy, Ms. Amanda and Ms. Kayla have been doing an amazing job covering our Beginners classroom to ensure each student continues their academic progress. They are frequently seen engaged in curriculum, music and movement, and sensory activities. Thank you ladies for stepping up to the plate, your commitment to the children is greatly appreciated.
Earth Day Celebration: Earth Day is on Sunday, April 22nd. In observance of Earth Day we will have our annual Lady Bug Release on Friday, April 20st at 10am. Parents are invited to participate in this experience as well.
Week of the Young Child: The Week of the Young Child will be celebrated April 16th through 20th. This is an annual celebration begun in 1971 by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the world’s largest early childhood education associations. The purpose of the Week of the Young Child is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs. Listed below are the events we will be hosting for our students and families that week.
- Monday, April 16th – Music Monday: Students will create musical instruments to use while learning Michael Jackson’s “Heal the World”
- Tuesday, April 17th –Tie-Dye Tuesday Children will make tie-dye shirts. Please note, parents must provide a shirt for their child(ren) to participate. Yes, this can be done for our infant students also.
- Wednesday, April 18th – Work Together Wednesday: Classrooms will be creating a 3D sculpture/building structure out of recycled materials.
- Thursday, April 19th – Artsy Thursday: We will be learning about some famous artists and creating our own masterpieces to display around the school. They will also create community rocks to place around our school.
- Friday, April 20th – Family Friday: Share pictures and stories about your family on a board in the school as we celebrate the unique role families play in he children’s learning and development.
