A Note from Our Principal
The winter season is certainly upon us!
We had a great first month of 2019 and are looking forward to spending the rest of this winter season with you and your children. Our teachers and staff are hard at work creating meaningful learning experiences for this month.
It looks like we will kick off our month to see what punxsutawney phil will predict for the rest of our winter! As a reminder, we broadcast our school delay and closing information on channel 6 ABC. You will also receive a text message and email alert through Tadpoles when our school has a delay or closing. In the event of an Early Dismissal during our hours of operation, we will utilize these resources in addition to contacting parents of children in our care by phone at that time. We pride ourselves with doing our best to serve our families and maintain our regular school operations, however there are times when we must open late, dismiss early, or close due to extreme weather conditions and/or school conditions. Thank you in advance to our families and staff for their understanding and cooperation throughout this winter. Your safety and that of your children and our staff is important to us.
Despite the recent wintry weather keeping us indoors, we will be busy throughout the month celebrating the Chinese New Year, Spirit Week, Groundhog Day and Valentine’s Day. More importantly we will be covering topics related to Heart Health Awareness and Dental Health, and the teachers will be incorporating some fun activities for our students on these topics. Special thanks to Segal Puppets for coming out to perform their Tooth Buddies show. Our students learned about healthy snack choices, and they all enjoyed learning the proper way to brush their teeth. They went home with a special treat bag filled with items to support a healthy dental plan.
Priority Registration information will be available soon!Be sure to stay alert for this information, as we want you to secure your child’s space for the upcoming school year. This is also a great time for families who have Kindergarten ready students, to prepare to register as well. We offer a full day program with various additional activities including art, and Physical fitness.
We are making preparations now for Summer Camp! I know it is hard to think about Summer with these frigid temperatures, but it’s not too early to reserve your space for our summer program! More details will be coming home with Early Bird Registration in the upcoming weeks. As a reminder, we do offer a Parent Referral discount for referring families. Please inquire for further details. Many thanks to all of our families that have and continue to refer their friends and families to us for their early childhood education and care needs. We greatly appreciate your referrals and positive feedback we have heard.
Lastly, our parent survey’s have been going out. They are not time consuming, and provide a honest anonymous response from you the parent. The survey’s help us see where we can make this school experience even better than it already is for you and your child. Please take a moment to complete the survey when you receive it, you input is invaluable!
Our entire Chesterbrook Academy Staff wish all of our families a happy and healthy new year!!!! As always, it is an honor to work with and watch your children grow. Thank you for choosing our school for your children.
Sincerely,
Tracy Anderson
Illness Policy
Our families are vital partners in helping us maintain a safe and healthy environment for the students in our school. The most important thing you can do to assist us in creating a healthy environment is to keep your child home if they are ill. This reduces the spread of illness and allows your child to fully recuperate. Children may not attend school until they have been symptom free for 24 hours if they display any of the following:
- Fever of 100 degrees of more—must be fever free for 24 hours with no fever-reducing medicine before returning to school
- Vomiting, diarrhea or stomach upset
- Heavy nasal discharge requiring wiping every 3 to 5 minutes
- Persistent, non-productive or barking cough
- Sore throat
- Skin rash, including diaper rash
- Head lice
- Symptoms of a communicable disease
- Fussy, cranky behavior unlike child’s normal demeanor that may indicate illness
For more information please see our Parent Handbook or reach out to a member of our administrative team.
Links 2 Learning Monthly Folders
Each month our teachers prepare folders that outline what your child has learned in the prior month. These folders have work samples in them and explain the skills that your child is working to master. We send these home at the end of each month and ask that that the empty folder be returned after you have removed all items inside. Please let us know if you have any questions about the monthly folders or about your child’s progress!
Parent Referrals
Do you have friends who are moving to the area, having a child or are unhappy with their child’s current preschool? We are always happy to meet other parents like you and offer a credit for existing families after a referred family enrolls. Please see the front office for details.
