Kayla Michaels-Sanders - Kindergarten Teacher

THIRD GRADE IS A COLOR OF ITS OWN!

Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year at Chesterbrook Academy! I hope you had an enjoyable summer with your families and are ready to GEAR into an exciting new school year!

I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Ms. Kayla Michaels and this is my fourth year at CBA. I have a dual degree in elementary education and special education from Peace College. I have set my roots in North Carolina after originally being raised in New Jersey. I am engaged to be married in November to an amazing man named Taft. Together we have two dogs named Zeppelin & Izzie and a cat named Pumpkin. In my spare time, I enjoy making crafts especially for my household and taking dance classes such as Zumba. I also love spending time with my family and friends.

I am thrilled to have been given the opportunity to teach your child this year. It is going to be an amazing year with fun learning experiences and lots of laughs along the way. I am looking forward to team teaching with the second-grade teacher Ms. Quimby. This is Ms. Quimby’s third year at CBA and 11th year teaching. She has two boys that also attend Chesterbrook. She enjoys teaching literacy and is looking forward to teaching your children this year.

Together, we will be teaching different subjects for both second and third grade to provide your child differentiated learning opportunities. I will be teaching the subjects of math and science. Mrs. Quimby will be teaching social studies and the literacy block which includes reading and writing. Mrs. Quimby and I worked closely together last year and we make a great team! We will do everything we can to ensure your child succeeds at Chesterbrook Academy!

I believe that communication is the key to a great parent-teacher relationship. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time. You can contact me by email. My email address is Kayla.Michaels@nlcinc.com. I will also be posting newsletters, weekly updates, upcoming events and calendar dates on my web page.

I invite you to meet the teacher Friday, August 26, 2016. The event will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Due to parking, the event will be split into separate time. Please come during your assigned time. For last names beginning in A-K please come between 4-5 p.m. For last names beginning in L-Z please come between 5-6 p.m. I can’t wait to see you there!

I am thrilled to be teaching such a BRIGHT third-grade class!

-Ms. Michaels
