Meet Our Dedicated Team

A Message from Our Principal

Dominique Ellison, Principal

Welcome to Chesterbrook Academy Preschool in Sterling, Virginia! For more than 30 years, our school has been a trusted part of the Loudoun County community where foundational learning begins, lasting friendships take root, and every child feels safe, known, and genuinely loved.

When you walk through our doors, our goal is that you immediately feel the warmth, energy, and strong sense of partnership that define our school. We believe early childhood education is an extension of home—a welcoming environment where children build confidence, discover new interests, and thrive alongside caring teachers and supportive families.

Our Educational Philosophy
Our mission is simple: to provide every child with a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where they feel valued, inspired, and confident.

We know that meaningful academic and personal growth begins with emotional security. When children feel supported as individuals, they gain the confidence to explore, ask questions, learn from mistakes, and discover their unique strengths. Through play-based, inquiry-driven learning, we meet each child where they are while purposefully building the skills they need for kindergarten success. Our curriculum is thoughtfully aligned with Loudoun County standards, helping children develop a strong foundation for the transition to elementary school.

That sense of connection extends beyond the classroom. More than 70 percent of our families come to us through recommendations from current and former parents. From seasonal family gatherings to our annual Winter Musical, a cherished tradition that brings hundreds of family members together, we take pride in building a strong, inclusive community.

Experienced, Dedicated Educators
Our teachers are the heart of Chesterbrook Academy. We know that consistency and experience play an important role in helping children feel secure, and every member of our teaching staff has been with us for more than a year, with several educators serving our school for decades.

Our infant teacher, Ms. Marissa, has spent 22 years caring for our youngest learners, while our Assistant Principal, Ms. Sophia, brings 12 years of leadership to our campus. Her connection to Chesterbrook spans generations—she attended our school as a child, and now her own children are part of our community. Our teachers hold Child Development Associate (CDA) credentials and degrees in early childhood education and continue to grow through ongoing state-level coaching with the Virginia Quality framework and monthly professional development.

Engaging Classrooms & Kindergarten Readiness
Our classrooms are bright, structured, and designed to support every stage of development. We believe young children learn best through active involvement—creating, building, experimenting, collaborating, and communicating throughout the day.

In our infant and toddler classrooms, children build language, sensory, fine and gross motor, and social-emotional skills while developing trusting relationships in a secure, nurturing environment. As children grow into our Preschool and Pre-K programs, they strengthen early literacy, phonics, sight words, mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, and independence through engaging, age-appropriate experiences.

By aligning our Pre-K program with the expectations of Loudoun County elementary schools, we help children enter kindergarten confident, prepared, and excited for the opportunities ahead.

A Safe, Convenient Campus
Conveniently located off major roadways, our campus offers working families an accessible location paired with uncompromised safety standards. Secure entry with Ring camera monitoring and enclosed outdoor play areas provide a safe environment for children to learn and grow. Our hiring and safety standards exceed state requirements, including background checks, continuous health protocols, and regular safety drills.

Visit Chesterbrook Academy
Choosing the right early childhood program is one of the most important decisions you will make for your child. I invite you to visit our school, meet our dedicated team, and experience firsthand what makes Chesterbrook Academy such a special place to learn and grow.

We look forward to welcoming your family into our community!
