February News
Will there be six more weeks of winter or will spring come early! The children will predict if the groundhog will see his shadow on Thursday, February 2nd. I am hoping for an early spring myself. The month of February is very short, but we managed to pack a lot of very fun activities for the children, open house opportunities for new families and a full day of Professional Development for our staff on February 20th. A reminder that we are closed that day, but will reopen on Tuesday, February 21st at regular time.
There will be some new faces to meet during the next few weeks from new children and families to new staff. I am pleased to announce, that after much searching, our new Assistant Principal will be starting on February 1st. Her name is Laura Hunsinger. I look forward to introducing her to our families over the course of the next week or two. Please help me in welcoming her!
Valentines are a big part of February, so we thought we would offer a small fundraiser for Valentine’s Day. We are selling Valentine Rubber Duckies for $1.00. Simply choose a duck, add a small message and tag to the duck and we will deliver the ducks to your children on Valentine’s Day. Money raised will go towards buying new children’s books for local doctor’s offices. Check with your child’s teacher for details on class Valentine Parties.
Since we are offering something fun for our children for Valentine’s Day, we are also offering a “Sweetheart’s Night Out” on Friday, February 10th from 6-8 PM. We will care for your children while parents go out for a quiet dinner for Valentine’s Day. There will be a sign-up sheet near the parent mailboxes, see form for details.
A special thank you to our 5 International Families that helped to provide artifacts and food from China, France, Nepal, Russia and Mexico on January 25th during our 2nd Annual International Night. The children enjoyed the Fact Finding Scavenger Hunt. Great job goes to the Before and after school children of Room 5 for creating the beautiful posters of each of the countries represented.
We thank you for signing your children in and out in the green binder everyday. Thank you for parking in parking spaces versus outside the front doors of the building. Most of all, thank you for allowing us to care for your children each and every day!
Warm Regards, Wendy Musser, Principal
