We are so excited to welcome our returning families back and extend a warm welcome to all of our new families joining our Chesterbrook community. We are looking forward to a wonderful school year filled with learning, growth, new friendships, and lots of fun!
As we begin the school year, I wanted to share a few important housekeeping reminders to help us keep our classrooms organized, safe, and running smoothly.
🎒 Backpacks
Moving forward, backpacks will no longer be stored at the center. We understand that some families may need to use a backpack to transport items to and from school. If you choose to do so, we ask that you please take the backpack with you after drop-off and bring it back at pick-up if needed.
With each child needing space for extra clothing, lunch bags, water bottles, sleep sacks, and other daily necessities, storing backpacks creates additional clutter and makes it challenging to safely manage our limited cubby space. Since our children have designated storage areas at school, backpacks are not necessary during the school day.
👕 Extra Clothing
Each child should have 2–3 complete changes of clothing stored in their cubby. Please make sure clothing is appropriate for the current season and labeled with your child’s first and last name. As the weather changes, please remember to update these items.
😴 Sleep Sacks
Sleep sacks will be hung underneath the cubbies rather than placed on top. This will help us keep the cubby area organized and, most importantly, prevent items from falling and creating a safety concern.
🧸 Items From Home
Please help us limit toys and other personal items being brought from home unless requested by your child’s teacher for Show & Tell, a special classroom activity, or a designated theme day.
Personal toys can easily become lost or damaged and can sometimes create challenges with sharing or distractions during classroom activities. Keeping personal items at home allows our teachers to maintain a more consistent learning environment and helps children engage with the materials provided in their classrooms.
💳 Tuition Payments
Moving forward, we will no longer be processing checks as a form of tuition payment. All tuition payments must be made through ALMA.
Because checks can take additional time to be received and processed, there have been occasions when this has resulted in accounts reflecting a late payment and potentially receiving a late fee. Utilizing ALMA will allow payments to be processed more efficiently and help families better manage their accounts and payment timelines.
Please be mindful of your tuition due dates and allow enough time for your payment to be reflected in ALMA to avoid any late fees. Lastly,
🏷️ Label Everything!
Please make sure all personal belongings are clearly labeled with your child’s first and last name, including water bottles (preferably plastic water bottles), lunch bags, clothing, sleep sacks, jackets, and any other items coming into the center. This makes it much easier for our teachers to ensure items make it back to the correct family.
Thank you for your cooperation and partnership as we work together to create a safe, organized, and positive learning environment for all of our children.
We are excited for everything this school year has in store and are so happy to have you as part of our Chesterbrook family. Here’s to a great school year! 🎉📚
Warmly,
Erica Aiken
