Leadership & Faculty Home / About Us / Leadership & Faculty Dedicated Leaders & Expert Teachers At our school, everyone works together to make sure students and families feel happy and supported. Our leaders, staff, and teachers are all here to help. Our teachers love sharing what they know, whether it’s about reading, music, or outer space! They make learning fun and exciting, helping students explore new things and find what they love. Together, we create a special place where students can grow and learn every day. From the Principal Amanda Capotrio Dear Future Chesterbrook Academy Family, This past spring, a group of second graders visited downtown West Chester and interviewed the owners of female-run businesses during Women’s History Month. They came back, built their presentations, and stood up in front of the entire student body (and the business owners themselves), and taught everyone why it mattered. These were seven-year-olds! Our fifth graders watched and listened. At our school, that kind of work isn’t saved for special occasions. It happens daily because teachers are trusted to connect the curriculum to something real. That same instinct carries into how we use technology. In a recent unit, fourth graders were tasked with identifying a global problem, i.e., deforestation or ocean pollution, and then built an app using the Keynote platform that educates players and raises money for the cause. Every K–6 student utilizes an iPad for demonstrating their learning, and our teachers, including two Apple Distinguished Educators and several Apple Learning Coaches, are experts in the thoughtful application of technology. Our classes are just the right size, allowing teachers to get to know every child as a person, not just as a reader level or a math score. A student who struggles with reading in September doesn’t spend the year in the same group going through the same motions. And a student excelling in math doesn’t get held back. Teachers track progress, adjust, and try something different. Students leave here knowing how they learn and how to advocate for themselves. We’ve been in West Chester since 1998, and that longevity shows up in ways that are hard to manufacture. A student in Pre-K right now has a mother who was once a student here. Former students come back in the summers to work in our summer camp program. Families don’t keep returning to a place unless it’s given them something real to come back to. I invite you to tour. Walk the building, look in the art room, and find out what the kids are growing in the greenhouse. That experience will tell you everything you need to know about the Chesterbrook Academy Elementary community.
