Happy New Year!!! We here at Chesterbrook Academy are so excited for what 2019 has in store. As we reflect back on the previous year and look at all the learning fun, we look forward with zeal to the amazing learning experiences 2019 will bring us.
As the cold weather comes in, teachers will take the opportunity to teach students about winter and winter weather. Classes will spend time reading books such as Polar Bear, Polar Bear What Do You Hear? by Bill Martin Jr and Eric Carle and Five Little Penguins Slipping on Ice by Steve Metzger. Students will get to participate in science experiments with ice and snow. As students watch water freeze and ice melt, they will learn about the different states of matter. Even our littlest friends will get to explore sensory bins of snow, experiencing the cold with their sense of touch.
January starts a new season of extra-curricular activities. The winter session of Soccer Shots starts Tuesday January 15th. Every Tuesday for 8 weeks the Soccer Shots coach will come teach students ages 2-5 various soccer skills and play fun soccer games. Makin’ Music’s winter session starts on Thursday January 10th. Students as young as toddlers love joining Miss Jody as she introduces them to fun songs and all kinds of musical instruments. Lil’ Sports will also resume in January; however, the exact day and time is to be determined. Sign up information for all of our extra-curricular activities can be found on the information table in front of Britt’s office.
Thursday January 31st is our first ever Winter Concert and Pasta Dinner! Come on out and enjoy musical performances as our students join Miss Jody as they sing Makin’ Music original songs. Dinner starts at 5:00pm, with performances scattered throughout the school starting at 5:15pm. It is sure to be a fun time had by all!!!
