The purpose of our sick policy is to reduce the spread of illness among our students and to encourage full recuperation of sick children before they return to school. We depend on parents to assist us in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all of our children.
Sick Policy:
Children may be sent home if they have any concerning symptoms. In addition, a child must be free of all of these symptoms for at least 24 hours before he/she can return to school. These symptoms include:
- A Fever of 100 degrees or more
- Vomiting within the previous 24-hour period
- Diarrhea within the previous 24-hour period
- Symptoms of a communicable disease
- Fussy, cranky behavior and generally not himself/ herself
Following an illness, a child may return to school once he/she has either been seen by a doctor or it has been determined that illness is not contagious. (A doctor’s clearance may be requested.) Please help us keep all of our children healthy by following these rules. If you have any questions or concerns please let us know. Thank you for your support!

2019/2020 School Year
As we embark on a new school year, it is imperative that we review VPK policies.
- Per State requirements, VPK student attendance is mandatory. Absences will require a doctor’s note. Children who are not attending on a regular basis may be subject to dis-enrollment. Our program is in demand. We currently have a waiting list for students wanting to attend VPK at Chesterbrook Academy.
- VPK classes are required to begin at 9:00 am SHARP! VPK instruction is only 3 hours a day and teachers need to start their daily routines on time. Please be sure to have your child ready to join the class a few minutes before the day begins.
- Drop-off is not the time to chat with your child’s teacher. Please schedule a specific time to meet if you would like to discuss your child’s progress or any concerns you may have.
- VPK dismissal is at 12:30 pm SHARP! Please be sure to pick up your child within 5 minutes of dismissal time. Instruction must resume for full-time students and teachers need to follow their daily schedule directly following VPK. Chronic late pick-ups are subject to late fees and or dis-enrollment.
Thank you for your support!

If you’d like to sign up for our ACH program, which automatically pulls your weekly tuition from the account of your choice the 1st business day of every week, just let us know and we will get you signed up.

December 2019 News
December Newsletter
The holiday season is upon us. Please, let the office know of any travel plans or vacations that you have planned. Remember you get one week’s vacation credit per year. Otherwise, you are required to pay tuition regardless of attendance. We have several different holidays that are represented here at Chesterbrook Academy. We would like to include all families traditions with the children. Please, let your child’s teacher know your family traditions so that we can share with your child’s classroom.
We will be having holiday pictures taken next week with a company called LOL photos. They will be here to take pictures from Dec. 2 thru Dec 6th. See the schedule up front for your child’s class date. They will display the pictures in the afternoon and if you like the pictures you can purchase. If not there is nothing that you need to do.
If you ordered from Yankee Candle the delivery will come in the week of December 8th.
We will be hosting a Car Seat Safety program again this year. This will be on Thursday December 12th from 4-7pm. The Sunrise Police department have volunteered to have their car seat experts check to see if your car seats are installed correctly and if not they will install them correctly for you. This is a free program and you can just come during pick up time to have them check it out for you. You do not need to sign up in advance. Last year 90% of the car seats tested were installed incorrectly. Please, take advantage of this opportunity for your child(ren)’s safety.
We will be watching Polar Express and drinking (not so) hot chocolate on Tuesday, December 17th. The children are welcome to wear their pj’s on this day, while we take our own pretend ride on the Polar Express.
We will be closed on December 25th in observance of Christmas Day and we will be closed on January 1st in observance of New Year’s Day. There is no VPK classes from December 23rd thru January 6th. Classes will resume on January 7th.
We will be having Wacky Wednesday on Wednesday, December 18th. We are having “Wear a plunger on your head day” (clean ones only please) We would love to see every child in the school participate.
The classes will be having their holiday parties on December 20th.
On December 31st we will be ringing in the New Year with our Countdown to Noon! We will countdown and toast at 12:00pm.
Winter Clothing Reminder
If you’ve not already done so, please check your child’s cubby to ensure they have an extra set of weather appropriate clothes. Students also need to come to school each day with a jacket and dressed warm enough to play outside for part of the day. If the weather is brisk we still go outside for active games and SPARK activities and want everyone to be able to participate!
Holiday Giving Project
Thank you for all who participated in our Operation Christmas project. We had over 30 boxes sent out to children throughout the world. We are so grateful that we get to share in these opportunities to bring joy to other children.
