September 2017 Newsletter

DANCING_APPLE

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the 2017/2018 school year! Well, we made it through the first two weeks of school, and the children are adjusting well to their new school environment. Goodbyes are getting a little easier for all! What a joy to see our returning students who have moved to the next level as well as the many new families who have joined our academy this year. Thank you, for your continued support and trust. We are committed to providing your children with the best educational opportunities possible and look forward to all the 2017/2018 school year has in store for us. We are so excited to have the privilege to get to know each one of your children and support them through the process of learning and developing this school year.

Our teachers have a busy fall planned, so please remember to review parent boards, lobby displays as well as our school website, so you are connected with all that is happening at school.

We are also looking forward to partnering with you, our parents because we know together we can surely bring your little ones to that next level. Please make sure to check your emails, child’s file folder in their classroom, and read the What We Learned Today for their class daily. These are just some of the ways that we plan to help keep you in the loop of what is happening in your child’s classroom and the school.

A part of us working together as a team for your child includes you understanding what are the goals and expectations for the classroom and program that your child is in for this school year. We do remind you that each one of our programs builds and progress off of one another to help prepare them for their future. We invite and strongly encourage you to make the time to join your child’s teacher for a Curriculum Night on September 5th for Classrooms 1-4, Classroom 5 – (2:00-2:30 pm) and September 6th for classrooms 6,& 7 @ 6:30 to 7 (ONLY PARENTS). This is an excellent opportunity for you as the parents to understand the development skill milestones and goals the teachers are working on daily in class. The teachers will also explain the setup and routine of their program. You will become the students and be able to see the school through the eyes of your little one! In order for you and the other parents to get the most of this event, we do ask that you make the appropriate arrangements for your little ones to stay home. We promise that we will have plenty other events throughout the year where they are the focus but for this event, it is about sharing information with parents.

School wide events are always posted on our school website calendar, homepage and our new events board. For activities and events pertaining to your child’s individual class, please refer to the class’s weekly newsletter and parent board.

May this school year be a fruitful and fun experience for you and your child.

Best Wishes and Welcome,
The Chesterbrook Academy Staff

WE NEED YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT!

PARKING – As many of you have experienced, finding a parking space between 8:45am & 9:15am is challenging.  Assigning a parking attendant is not possible, so we are asking families to please be considerate during drop-off and pick-up times by not parking in an area that is not a designated parking space.  There is a field on the north side of the building that we have permission to use for parking. You are welcome to park there during drop-off and pick-up times. PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN FRONT OF THE DUMPSTER.

Thank you!

SICK POLICY:

The purpose of our sick policy is to reduce the spread of illness among our students and to encourage full recuperation of sick children before they return to school.  We depend on parents to assist us in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all of our children.

Children may be sent home if they have any concerning symptoms. Also, a child must be free of all of these symptoms for at least 24 hours before he/she can return to school. These symptoms include:

  • A Fever of 100 degrees or more
  • Vomiting within the previous 24-hour period
  • Diarrhea within the previous 24-hour period
  • Symptoms of a communicable disease
  • Fussy, cranky behavior and not himself/ herself

Following an illness, a child may return to school once he/she has either been seen by a doctor or it has been determined that illness is not contagious. (A doctor’s clearance may be requested.) Please help us keep all of our children healthy by following these rules. If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know. Thank you for your support!

SIGN-IN & SIGN OUT LOGS:

Signing your child in and out daily is not only a licensing and company policy but, an added security measure, which ensures all children are accounted for while in our care. PLEASE, BE DILIGENT ABOUT RECORDING YOUR CHILD’S ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE TIMES. Thank you!

A Powerful Connection to a Lifetime of Learning

Your children experience the perfect balance of learning and play in a safe, nurturing environment. Our Links to Learning (LTL) curriculum prepares them for kindergarten by introducing concepts in reading, math, art, music and much more. You will receive progress updates, as well as ideas to continue learning at home.

You can expect to receive daily communication and pictures via email through our Links 2 Home program. And, we also encourage you to take a few moments each week to review your child’s classroom Links to Learning “Parent Board”, so you can “Link” to your child’s early education experiences. Posted are “Weekly Skills”, “Lesson Plan”, “Daily Schedule”, “Monthly Spanish” and “Learning Outcomes”.
