Dear Parents,
March is sure to be another busy month at Chesterbrook Academy. Spring is around the corner and teachers are busy planning a variety of fun seasonal activities that will help our students learn more about the many changes which occur in our environment during springtime. Be on the look-out for plants and flowers popping up around campus. We would like to thank Lucas mom and aunt Amanda Gladkowski from Georgia that came to give us a Preschool Gardening Class. They showed us how to plant different types of seeds and vegetables. Thank you for helping us grow learn and grow sweet potatoes and the “Three Sisters”-corn, beans, and squash.
We will also like to thank you for all the toys and monetary donations for Juliana’s 6th annual Lemonade Stand. Juliana raised over $900 for children in need at Joe Dimaggio Children’s Hospital. Juliana and her mother are so grateful for the big turn out and generous donations. Thank you again and till next year.
March also marks the beginning of our annual “Early Bird Registration” period. You will have an opportunity to secure your child’s space for the upcoming 2018/2019 school year. Current families who re-register between 3/5 & 3/16 will receive 50% off the annual registration fee. You may still register after the early bird registration period; however, the fee will be full price. Please keep in mind that we are currently at 100% capacity and available space will be offered to the public when our early bird session is over.
Monthy teachers and students in all age groups are working hard at creating new dramatic play centers in their classrooms. Please take a moment to check out what your child’s classroom dramatic play theme will be. Thank you for donating items or letting us borrow items to make dramatic play a quality experience. Dramatic play can be defined as a type of play where children accept and assign roles, and then act them out. It is a time when they break through the walls of reality, pretend to be someone or something different from themselves, and dramatize situations and actions to go along with the roles they have chosen to play. And while this type of play may be viewed as frivolous by some, it remains an integral part of the developmental learning process by allowing children to develop skills in such areas as abstract thinking, literacy, math, and social studies, in a timely, natural manner.
We would like to thank all parents that participated in our PAR surveys. We are so grateful to be able to hear your thoughts and opinions and are taking them to heart to make changes at our school. We greatly appreciate all the praise for our staff, school, and curriculum.
