From the Principal’s Office
Thank you for the parents that braved the snowy cold yesterday to come do trunk or treat for us! I think winter has arrived, it wasn’t the best day for it to come on Halloween. In the event of inclement weather, school closings will be announced on WCIA Channel 3, WIXY 100.3, 94.5, 92.5, 99.1, 97.9 and send a notification on Links to Home as soon as possible but no later than 6:30am.
There are so many fun and exciting things that will be happening here at Chesterbrook in the next two months. We are currently hosting a holiday toy drive from Nov. 1 – Dec. 6th for the children ages 0-5 years old of children’s home and aid. Instead of donating canned goods please consider donating a toy, you can put it in the decorated box by the front desk. We are use the toy drive as a way to involve the children in a community outreach activity. Please be sure to involve your child as much as possible in the process of giving to children that would not otherwise get anything.
Chesterbrook Academy will be closed on Monday, November 11th for teacher’s in-service day, November 28 & 29 for Thanksgiving, December 24th we close at noon, December 25th we are closed all day for Christmas, December 31st we will close at 3:00pm and January 1st we are closed all day for New Year’s Day. We will have sign up sheets during the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s weeks to see how many children will be attending so we can staff accordingly. Please mark which days your child will be attending so we have accurate counts.
The teachers are currently working on the November parent reports and will get them handed out by the end of November. There will be a sign up sheet at the front desk if you would like to sign up for a parent teacher conference during the week of November 18-22.

Reminders
If you are planning on using your free vacation week during the holidays please remember we need at least two weeks notice. So if your child is not going to be attending one whole week (Mon.-Fri.) and you have not used your free week of vacation you can use that we will just need an email with your request.
Please help your child to wash their hands or remind them to wash their hands at arrival to their classroom. With the start of cold and flu season, it is important to keep the spread of germs down and the easiest way to do this is with hand washing.
Check your child’s cubby to make sure there is a complete change of clothes including socks and underwear appropriate for the weather we are currently having.
With the winter weather that brings the snow and ice, we ask that anyone entering the infant rooms slip their shoes off before entering the room or slip shoe covers on over your shoes. The babies are all over the floor, so we don’t want them crawling through and sitting in whatever gets tracked into the classroom. We appreciate your help in keeping the classroom floor as clean as we can.
Families can earn free tuition when a family they refer enrolls with us. There is no limit to the number of times free tuition can be earned. Be an ambassador for Chesterbrook Academy and share with others what you love about our school.
